Avoid using curling irons on wet hair

Avoid using excessively hot hair dryers close to the hair

The excessive heat causes the water inside the hair to evaporate too quickly and the steam has no time to escape; steam bubbles then form in the hair - this is called bubble hair - and these bubbles cause breakage in the hair shaft. The clear bubbles are easily viewed under a microscope with slight magnification, and little areas of broken hair can be seen in places where the hair was heated excessively and too quickly.
