Irritated, sebosquamous skin is found on areas richest in sebaceous glands. This condition is not linked to hyperseborrhea, but rather to a skin reaction secondary to the presence of microscopic fungi (Malassezia genus). It is characterized by red, more or less scaly plaques (dead cells), which can be very irritating, and are located in very specific areas: nasolabial folds, sides of the nose, eyelids and eyebrows.
On the scalp, this condition is characterized by oily, yellowish dandruff on top of red plaques, which can extend to the forehead and behind the ears, often accompanied by severe irritation.
