Unlike a common dandruff condition, seborrheic dermatitis is characterized by recurring dandruff that sticks to the scalp and accompanied by redness and intense itching. This condition is caused by a proliferation of yeasts (Malassezia), leading to local inflammation and the accelerated renewal of the epidermis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common and benign disease which, depending on its severity, can be addressed with different treatments.
Seborrheic dermatitis can also occur on the face and chest in areas where the skin tends to be oily. This stimulates the proliferation of Malassezia yeast, leading to inflammation and the accelerated renewal of the epidermis. How do I identify it? It is mainly found on the sides of the nose, on the eyebrows, and more rarely on the chest. It appears in the form of redness combined with flaking or small plaques of oily skin, and sometimes itching.
For scalps prone redness and plaques, it is possible to use local medicinal treatments alongside dermo-cosmetic products, either as a follow-up or in alternation.
The KELUAL DS treatment shampoo formula has been developed to act specifically on all the factors involved: to limit the proliferation of yeast with a patented active ingredient complex, to reduce redness and itching with a soothing active ingredient, and to eliminate loose dandruff with a keratolytic agent.
