A shampoo has to produce foam in order to work properly

FALSE. The foam is produced by the surfactants contained in the shampoo. And foaming surfactants are often the most aggressive. The milder a shampoo is, the less foam it produces. It will, however, wash your hair just as thoroughly as a foaming shampoo. Foaming power doesn't mean cleansing power.

Rinsing your hair in cold water increases shine

TRUE. Cold water closes the cuticles at the surface of the hair strands, thus increasing the amount of light reflected. This makes the hair look shinier.
