IN THE WORDS OF A DERMATOLOGIST

All about psoriasis-prone skin

Psoriasis is a genetically determined disease.
For the disease to be triggered, you need to have the genes and they must be activated. Once the genes are activated, the disease will progress in flare-ups between remissions. This is called the natural history of chronic inflammatory diseases. This is also why patients are often mistakenly disappointed when new plaques appear. They think that the treatment used did not work. This is not the case. The treatments currently available for psoriasis do not cure the disease, at best, they suppress all symptoms.
