      About severe dandruff conditions and scalps prone to seborrheic dermatitis

      Dermatitis or seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp is characterised by dandruff of varying thickness and greasyness and red patches along with intense itching. These clinical symptoms on the scalp may also be present on the face and/or torso. In this case, it is the redness that comes with small scales that is the most annoying. The condition is not serious, but its chronic development and its visibility can impact on quality of life. A specialist treatment along with a rigorous care routine is therefore needed in order to reduce these visible symptoms and make flare-ups as infrequent as possible. Three elements have now been identified as the causes of seborrheic dermatitis: excess sebum, which leads to the proliferation of a yeast (Malassezia) which itself provokes inflammation.
