How to accelerate hair growth
Does it feel like your hair isn't growing as quickly or easily as before? This might be a case of hair aging. Learn to identify it and get lots of advice for stimulating hair growth.
What does the right hair growth rate look like?
The hair life cycle (or hair cycle) is a well-proven process. It is divided into three distinct phases:
- First is the anagen phase, the longest phase, which lasts between three and six years on average and which corresponds to the hair's growth phase. When all is well, 85% of the hairs on the head are in growth phase. Remember, hair grows at an average of 1 cm per month.
- Next comes the catagen phase, which is a short phase (approximately 3 weeks). This is a transition phase where hair growth is slowed down.
- Finally, the telogen phase completes the cycle: this last period is the hair loss phase and it lasts for approximately 3 months.
Each hair follows its own cycle without being synchronized with the surrounding hairs. It is therefore normal to lose about a hundred hairs every day without really noticing.
After age 50, hair aging can cause a distinct slowdown in hair growth rate. The anagen phase can then become less effective and produce a thinner hair.
Activate hair growth to better manage hair aging
When hair becomes white, the slowdown in hair growth rate is one of the visible symptoms of their aging.
To counteract the process and accelerate growth, it is recommended to include certain steps in your hair care ritual.
- The first important step is to follow a healthy lifestyle and particularly a balanced diet.
- To stimulate the growth of your hair, you have to supply it with a good quantity of the necessary vitamins and minerals.
- You can also use food supplements for hair to promote better quality growth and thickness.
- Also remember to brush the lengths of your hair for a few seconds every day, to activate the micro-circulation of blood in the scalp.
- A scalp massage is also a good method. This should be done regularly for visible and long-lasting effects, combined with protective redensifying and antioxidant hair care products (shampoos, serums, etc.).
