Hair loss and loss of volume
Hormonal imbalances, dietary deficiencies, stress, hair aging, or simply your hair type... there is a long list of factors that may cause hair loss in women. But all these causes have the same consequence: a loss of hair volume.
Loss of hair volume: is it normal to lose hair mass?
We are not all equal when it comes to hair mass. Some lucky people have naturally dense, thick hair, while others fight a daily battle against flat, limp hair in the hope of adding a bit of volume. Genetics are the primary cause, but over time, anyone can experience thinning and loss of hair volume. This is what we call hair aging.
What does it look like when hair loses its volume? The hair becomes depleted and thinner, and feels less dense. Hair is very thin, more fragile and more difficult to style. In some cases, it appears transparent, showing the scalp. Sometimes, due to a reduction in the number of hairs and volume in certain areas, the scalp shows through on the top of the head. In this case, hair loss is often the issue, with the hairline at times being very thin.
